Aldo Campoamor was a singer whose recorded career, as documented in the available sources, ran from the 1930s into the late 1950s [1]. He first appeared in 1933, singing in the chorus of De Gabino a Gardel at the Teatro Nacional [1].

His career moved through several kinds of work [1]. He sang on radio, first on Radio Belgrano with Elvino Vardaro and later on Radio El Mundo with Edmundo Zaldívar's guitars [1]. He travelled to France with Rafael Canaro's orchestra, sang with Astor Piazzolla's orchestra, and joined Mariano Mores's company for Luces de mi ciudad [1][3].

His association with Astor Piazzolla's orchestra is the best-documented part of his career [3][4][5]. Sources place it between 1946 and 1948 [3]. One source records that other accounts give 1949 as the year he left the orchestra [1].

Early career

Campoamor's first documented appearance was in 1933, when he sang in the chorus of De Gabino a Gardel at the Teatro Nacional [1].

In 1937 he made his debut on Radio Belgrano with Elvino Vardaro [1].

France and Radio El Mundo

In 1938 Campoamor travelled to France with Rafael Canaro's orchestra [1]. In Paris he recorded Viejos tiempos [1].

In 1939 he joined Radio El Mundo, where he stayed for several years [1]. There he performed with Edmundo Zaldívar's guitars [1].

With Astor Piazzolla

Campoamor sang with Astor Piazzolla's orchestra, with one source dating the association from 1946 to 1948 [3]. On 15 April 1947 he recorded Tiernamente with Piazzolla's orchestra for the Odeon label [2]. Listings also record him with the orchestra on 10 April 1948 and on 8 July 1948 [4][5].

Sources differ on when he left the orchestra [1]. One source dates his departure to 1948 [1], which matches the end of the 1946–1948 period given elsewhere [3]. The same source records that Wikipedia gives 1949 instead [1].

Later career

In 1952 Campoamor made his solo debut on Radio El Mundo's programme Patio de tango [1].

In 1958 he joined Mariano Mores's company for the production Luces de mi ciudad [1].
