A mis manos · Alfredo Gobbi · 1955

Ayudaron a llevarla...

My hands were born blind and cradle their crazy dreams. They don't know that you can't touch the sky with them. That's why they knocked on doors that didn't open to my knocks. She was already far away and I was a blind beggar. My hands were two flames and alone they were consumed because she was indifferent like a statue of ice. That's why I have them now as if they were made of plaster, two desperate hands, clinging to a memory. Oh, how the blind hands I have the blind hands I have! I put my hands in the hands of a friend and I was afraid. They were not loyal hands, the presentiment was fulfilled. The time they became a fist they were two fists of steel and they hit my face for not hitting someone else's face. Oh, how the blind hands I have the blind hands that I have! Soldier of misfortune I wear a black armband. They took my mother and they didn't stop her! It was the most regrettable mistake my hands ever made... They helped to take her... They will never know what they have done! Oh, how the blind hands I have the blind hands I have!
