Cuando tallan los recuerdos · Aníbal Troilo · 1943

Llueve...

It rains... It rains in the suburb and here, alone in this room a strange evocation a strange evocation. Is it the pain of being alone or is it the cruel and cold afternoon that turns my gray melancholy turns it into emotion... Here is my pride of yesteryear, bandoneon of my past old friend that I have left forever in a corner. In the evocative afternoon your yellowish keyboard is mute and I no longer feel your grumbling language. My old friend of that time I'm running your fate. The hours we have lived today are covered by oblivion and death is around them... My bandoneon of memory today like you no longer exists for I left forever in your register buried the heart... Today the afternoon is rainy, bandoneon, because of the memories, and that is why I remember of my times of splendor. When I lifted your box one day in a lyrical roll up my sleeve and there and then you gave me a tango, a great winning tango... And again when 'she' was neurasthenic and jealous with your gangly music you made her sob... Bandoneon of my memories. Old friend wrapped in sorrow, this afternoon I feel like, I really want to cry.
