Juan Cambareri
Juan Cambareri was a bandoneon player and bandleader, born on 15 April 1916, who played with Roberto Firpo before recording with his own groups for the Sondor and Pampa labels [1][2]. His later career included radio, television, international tours and recordings up to 1981, and he died on 18 February 1992 [1].
Juan Cambareri was born on 15 April 1916 [2]. His family moved to Buenos Aires in the early 1920s and settled in the Balvanera neighbourhood, where he studied bandoneon near the Mercado Spinetto [1].
His early professional career was linked to Roberto Firpo. He first played in Firpo's orchestra as a teenager and in 1936 joined Firpo's Cuarteto Los de Antes [1]. He made his first records in 1948, "La puñalada" and "El amanecer", for the Sondor label in Montevideo, and from 1950 he recorded for Pampa, a subsidiary of Odeon, beginning with "El choclo" [1].
In the mid-1950s Cambareri directed a radio station's house orchestra; his biography implies that the station was Radio Belgrano but does not name it [1]. In later decades he toured Japan with his quartet in 1969, appeared on the television programme El tango del millón in 1971, and then toured Uruguay and Brazil for several years [1]. His last recording was the cassette Tangos compadres, made for Music-Hall in 1981 [1]. He died on 18 February 1992 [1].

With Roberto Firpo
As a teenager Cambareri played in the orchestra of Roberto Firpo [1]. In 1936 he joined Firpo's Cuarteto Los de Antes [1].
Recording career as leader
Cambareri's first records as a leader date from 1948, when he recorded "La puñalada" and "El amanecer" for Sondor in Montevideo [1]. In 1950 he began recording for Pampa, described as an Odeon subsidiary, opening that association with "El choclo" [1].
Radio work
Around 1955 Cambareri directed the house orchestra of a radio station [1]. The biography that reports this implies that the station was Radio Belgrano without stating the name directly, so the identification of the station is not confirmed by the available source [1].
Later career
In 1969 Cambareri toured Japan with his quartet [1]. In 1971 he appeared on the television programme El tango del millón, after which he toured Uruguay and Brazil over several years [1]. In 1981 he recorded his last cassette, Tangos compadres, for the Music-Hall label [1]. Cambareri died on 18 February 1992 [1].
