Alberto Dassieu was a tango dancer whose year of birth is given as 1936 [4]. According to an interview originally posted on Paradiso's website, he began watching dances at a club near his home at about 9 or 10, and went to the downtown milongas at 14, when Alfredo Gobbi sponsored him into Sans Souci [1].

Later in life he danced with Paulina Spinoso, who became his wife [1]. He taught and performed in North America, including a milonguero tango weekend in Urbana, Illinois, in March 2011 [1][2]. He is also recorded as having partnered with the dancer Eva Garlez .

Early life

Dassieu's year of birth is given as 1936 [4]. At about 9 or 10 years old, around 1946, he started watching the dances at a club near his home [1].

At 14, around 1950, he began going to the downtown milongas [1]. Alfredo Gobbi sponsored him into Sans Souci [1].

Career

Around 1997 Dassieu began dancing with Paulina Spinoso, who later became his wife; by 2008 the two had been together for about 11 years [1].

Around 2007 he taught and performed in North America [1]. In 2008 he was interviewed for Paradiso's website about his music-first approach to dancing; the interview was later reposted on a tango blog [1].

In March 2011 he led a milonguero tango weekend in Urbana, Illinois, announced for 11 to 13 March [2]. He is also recorded as a dance partner of Eva Garlez, though the source gives no date for this partnership .

Later years and death

In September 2013 he was described as very unwell, and Tango Voice gives 2013 as the year of his death [3]. No exact date or place of death is given [3].

Dance notes

The 2008 interview concerned what was described as his music-first approach to tango [1]. His 2011 teaching weekend in Urbana was advertised as a milonguero tango weekend [2].
