Dancer

Fernando Sanchez

Fernando Sanchez is a tango dancer best documented through his long-standing professional and personal partnership with Ariadna Naveira. He began dancing professionally with her in 2008, and the two have been recorded performing at milongas and festivals from Buenos Aires to Rethymno. [3][5]

Fernando Sanchez is a tango dancer. The available sources centre on his work with the dancer Ariadna Naveira, with whom he formed both a personal and a professional partnership. A dancer's own website describes the partnership under the joint name "Ariadna Naveira y Fernando Sanchez – Tango Argentino".

According to that site, Sanchez became Naveira's partner in life in 2007 and began dancing professionally with her in 2008. His early professional steps took place in the show at the Café Tortoni. Later documented appearances with Naveira include the Fiesta X at La Viruta in 2009, Práctica X in 2010 and the A los Amigos festival in Rethymno in 2026. [3][4][5]

A video listing also connects Sanchez with a number of other dancers, among them Roxana Suárez, Graciela Gonzalez, Nayla Vacca, Gioia Abballe, Maria Plazaola, Sabrina Veliz, Mariana Montes, Ines Muzzopappa, Vida Lisaite, Santiago Alvarez, Ariel Perez and Federico Naveira. The listing gives no dates or context for these connections.

History

Sanchez became Ariadna Naveira's partner in life in 2007, according to the couple's website. In 2008 he started dancing professionally with Naveira, and his first steps as a professional were in the show at the Café Tortoni.

On 29 September 2009 Sanchez danced with Naveira at the Fiesta X at La Viruta. [3] The blog post announcing that evening lists "Fernando y Ariadna" alongside a second couple, José and Virginia. [3]

On 23 November 2010 Sanchez danced with Naveira at Práctica X. [4] Federico Naveira and Inés Muzzopappa also danced at that event, according to the blog post announcing it. [4]

In 2026 Sanchez and Naveira performed at A los Amigos in Rethymno. [5] A video of the performance is titled as a dance show at the A Los Amigos Tango Festival 2026. [5]

Partners

Ariadna Naveira is Sanchez's principal documented partner, both personally and professionally, from 2007 and 2008 onward. A video listing gives her name in three forms: "Ariadna Naveira", "CITF Ariadna Naviera" and "Ariadna Naveria MSTF". Sources differ in spelling here, and the variants appear as separate entries rather than a single one.

The same listing records partnerships between Sanchez and the following dancers:

  • Roxana Suárez
  • Graciela Gonzalez
  • Nayla Vacca
  • Gioia Abballe
  • Maria Plazaola
  • Sabrina Veliz
  • Mariana Montes
  • Ines Muzzopappa
  • Vida Lisaite
  • Santiago Alvarez
  • Ariel Perez
  • Federico Naveira

The listing records Ines Muzzopappa and Federico Naveira as connected with Sanchez. The 2010 Práctica X announcement, however, describes them as dancing together as a couple at the same event where Sanchez danced with Ariadna Naveira. [4]

Performances

The documented performances by Sanchez are all with Ariadna Naveira: [3][4][5]

  • 2008: the show at the Café Tortoni, his first professional steps
  • 29 September 2009: Fiesta X at La Viruta [3]
  • 23 November 2010: Práctica X, alongside Federico Naveira and Inés Muzzopappa [4]
  • 2026: A los Amigos, Rethymno [5]
