Lyrics

English · machine translation

In his old clothes, tanned by the sun, life has treated him with all its rigor. Always in the same corner, shouting his proclamation: Sir, here you polish better than in the salon! I know its history and I know its value; that one day his father did not return home... and that he, without saying anything, made himself that drawer, and that in his house they have never lacked bread. Sir, this is the place to shine! It is polished, sir!.... Looking for hope, life is thus kneaded of sorrow and pain. And so every day, even if the sun burns us, or the winter cold freezes our hearts. And one of those mornings, the wind of the suburbs left a strange silence, there, next to the threshold; and it's been several days since we've heard its cry: Sir, here you polish better than in the salon! Yesterday we went to see him, it's something to tell.... He looks at us, gets up and starts talking: Mommy, come quickly; bring me my drawer, here, sir, you can polish it better than in the living room... And so, like this story that I have just told, this is how the humble soul of the slum is kneaded.
