From a twinkling star... Will beckon me to come By a light of eternity When she calls me, I'll come. To ask her, for that child that with his death, I lost him, who with 'Nonino' left me... When he tells me, come here... I will be reborn... Because... I am...! the root, the root of the country that he kneaded with his clay. I am...! Blood and skin, of the 'tano' that one, who gave me his seed. Farewell 'Nonino'... how long without you, will be the road. Pain, sadness, the table and the bread...! And my goodbye... Oh! My goodbye, to your love, your tobacco, your wine. Who...? Without mercy, stole half of me, by taking you 'Nonino'... Maybe one day, I too, looking back... Like you, I'll say goodbye No more...! Recited: And today my old man 'Nonino' is a plant. It's the light, it's the wind and it's the river... This torrent of mine supplants him, prolonging in my being, its challenge. I succeed myself in his blood, I guess it. And I sense in my voice, its own echo. This voice that once, sounded hollow to me when I said goodbye Goodbye 'Nonino'. I am...! The root, of the country that he kneaded with his clay... I am...! Blood and skin, of the 'tano' that one, who gave me his seed. Goodbye 'Nonino'... You left your sun in my destiny. Your fearless ardor, your creed of love. And that eagerness... Oh...! Your eagerness to sow the road with hope. I am your honeycomb and this drop of salt, that today weeps for you 'Nonino'. Maybe the day that my piolín is cut, I'll see you and I'll know... That there is no end.
