Oscar Mandagaran

Oscar Mandagaran was a dancer born on 13 August 1969 ^[4]. He first appears in the record as a folkloric dancer: in 1989 he was runner-up in malambo at the Festival Nacional del Malambo in Laborde, and in 1990 he joined the Ballet Folklórico Nacional ^[1].

He later became a tango stage dancer. In 1997 he joined the original cast of the show Forever Tango and made his Broadway debut with it ^[1]. He danced with Forever Tango at the Teatro Colón in 1999 ^[1].

In February 2006 he met Georgina Vargas, and they became partners in dance and in life ^[1]. Mandagaran died in Buenos Aires on 20 March 2025 ^[1].

Early career in folklore

Mandagaran's earliest documented achievement was in folk dance. In 1989 he was runner-up in the malambo category at the Festival Nacional del Malambo in Laborde ^[1]. The following year, 1990, he joined the Ballet Folklórico Nacional ^[1].

Forever Tango

In 1997 Mandagaran joined the original cast of Forever Tango, and with that production he made his debut on Broadway ^[1]. A 1998 video recording shows him dancing "Derecho viejo" with Natalia Hills in Forever Tango ^[2]. In 1999 he danced at the Teatro Colón with the Forever Tango company ^[1].

Partnership with Georgina Vargas

According to the history published by Georgina Vargas and Oscar Mandagarán, the two met in February 2006 and became partners both in dance and in life ^[1]. A video listing also records Georgina Vargas as one of his dance partners ^[3].

The same listing associates him with Natalia Hills, his partner in the 1998 Forever Tango performance, and with an entry named Georgina Mandagaran ^[3][2].
