José Basso

José Basso was a pianist, also known by the name Pepe ^[1]. He was born on 30 January 1919 in Pergamino ^[1].

Basso is documented as a member of the orchestra of Aníbal Troilo in the 1940s ^[3][4]. Sources differ on when this membership began and ended. One biography states that he joined in September 1943, with the period running to 1947 ^[3], while a chronicle of the orchestra places him there from 1945 to 1946 ^[4].

Basso died on 14 August 1993 ^[1]. A separate source records that he died in Buenos Aires ^[2].

Basso played piano in the orchestra of Aníbal Troilo ^[1][3][4]. A biography states that "en septiembre de 1943, se incorporó a las filas de Pichuco" (in September 1943 he joined Pichuco's ranks), and gives his time with the orchestra as running from September 1943 to 1947 ^[3].

A chronicle of the Orquesta Típica Aníbal Troilo gives a shorter period for his membership, from 1945 to 1946 ^[4]. The sources therefore differ on the dates of his time with the orchestra, and this article does not choose between them ^[3][4].
