Sexteto Fantasma

Sexteto Fantasma is a tango ensemble that formed in 2012 as Cuarteto Fantasma to play at the milonga La Ventanita de Arrabal at bar Kowalsky in Almagro, and became a sextet in 2013 [1]. Its releases include Fuego Bohemio (2018) and Noches Milongueras (2019), and in 2025 it was nominated for a Premio Gardel and for the Latin Grammy for best tango album [1].

Sexteto Fantasma began in June 2012 under the name Cuarteto Fantasma, formed to play the then-new milonga La Ventanita de Arrabal at bar Kowalsky in the Almagro neighbourhood [1]. In 2013 the group became a sextet, with bandoneon and trumpet in its line-up [1].

The ensemble's recorded output includes Fuego Bohemio, a set of original tangos released in 2018 and premiered at Teatro 25 de Mayo, and Noches Milongueras, released in 2019 and presented in Europe [1]. In 2024 it launched La inevitable tentación de ir a contramano at the Teatro Margarita Xirgu [1]. The group received the Premio Tango Siglo XXI for best tango song in 2024, and in 2025 it was nominated for a Premio Gardel and for the Latin Grammy for best tango album [1]. History

The group was formed in June 2012 as Cuarteto Fantasma, a quartet assembled to play the new milonga La Ventanita de Arrabal at bar Kowalsky in Almagro [1]. In 2013 it expanded into a sextet that included bandoneon and trumpet [1].

On 26 April 2014 the ensemble launched La Ventanita de Arrabal at Club Cultural Matienzo [1]. The source does not specify how this 2014 launch related to the milonga of the same name for which the group had formed in 2012 [1].

On 2 August 2024 the sextet launched La inevitable tentación de ir a contramano at the Teatro Margarita Xirgu [1]. On 17 September 2025 it marked its thirteenth anniversary with a concert at the CCK's Sala Argentina [1].
