Gerónimo Bongioni
Gerónimo Bongioni was a tango bandleader whose ensemble appears in the sources under several names linked to "Los Ases". He led Los Ases del Buenos Aires de Ayer on Radio Belgrano in 1939 [1] and recorded for Columbia from 1953 to 1955 [1][3].
Gerónimo Bongioni led a tango ensemble documented between 1939 and 1961 [1][3]. In 1939 he led Los Ases del Buenos Aires de Ayer on Radio Belgrano, with Juan Carlos Cambón at the piano [1].
The sources give the ensemble different names in different years. It appears as Los Ases del Buenos Aires de Ayer in 1939 [1], as his Cuarteto Los Ases in 1952 [2], and as the Auténtico Cuarteto Los Ases in 1953 [3]. The dossier does not say whether these names refer to one continuous group.

Bongioni recorded for Columbia from 1953 [3] until 1955, when that run of recordings ended [1].

Recordings and repertoire
In 1953 Bongioni recorded his own instrumental Tango de ayer for Columbia with the Auténtico Cuarteto Los Ases [3]. His Columbia recordings began in 1953 and ended in 1955 [1].
In 1961 Bongioni registered the tangos Flor de reo and La curda [3]. The source does not specify the nature of this registration.
