Luciano Leocata was born on 25 September 1915 [4]. His career, as outlined in the available sources, ran from theatre work in the mid-1930s, through a period with Alberto Castillo's orchestra from 1944 to 1954, to the leadership of his own orchestra, which debuted on Radio Belgrano in 1959 [1]. In 1944 Leocata joined Alberto Castillo's orchestra, where he remained until 1954 [1]. The sources consulted do not state his instrument or exact role in that orchestra [1].

In 1948 Leocata presented Y volvemos a querernos on Radio El Mundo together with Jorge Casal [1]. In 1949 Y volvemos a querernos, with Abel Aznar, was published [2].

In 1959 Leocata's own orchestra debuted on Radio Belgrano, where it stayed for six years [1].
