Javier Rodríguez

Javier Rodríguez is a tango dancer who teaches and performs at tango festivals ^[2][3]. A festival biography places the start of his international festival touring in 1998 ^[2]. From 2005 he partnered Andrea Missé, and the two taught and performed at festivals worldwide ^[3].

Video footage of Rodríguez dancing with Geraldine Rojas and with Andrea Missé began appearing online in 2006 ^[4]. Later documented partnerships include Noelia Barsi, with whom he taught and performed at the Misterio Tango Festival in 2015 ^[6], and Moira Castellano, with whom he danced at tanGO TO istanbul in 2016 ^[7]. In 2025 and 2026 festival listings paired him with Fátima Vitale ^[10][11][12].

Rodríguez has also been the subject of several filmed interviews, including two editions of the series 'Tengo una pregunta para vos' conducted by Pepa Palazón, in 2012 and 2025 ^[5][10], and an Instagram live interview with Marina Combis in April 2020 ^[8]. A video listing records a large number of dance pairings under his name, ranging from long-term stage partners to single appearances ^[1].

Career

According to festival biographies, Rodríguez began touring international tango festivals in 1998 ^[2]. The dossier does not record his birth, early life or training ^[2].

In 2005 he began partnering Andrea Missé; together they taught and performed at festivals worldwide ^[3]. Andrea Missé died in a road accident near General Acha on 2 January 2012 ^[3]. Sources differ slightly in the spelling of her surname: a video listing gives it as 'Misse' ^[1], while an encyclopedia entry uses 'Missé' ^[3].

In 2015 Rodríguez taught and performed at the Misterio Tango Festival with Noelia Barsi, as shown in a summary video of that festival ^[6].

In 2016 he danced with Moira Castellano at tanGO TO istanbul; the video of that performance, titled as recorded at the Çırağan Palace during the festival's eighth edition, is described as their most-watched video ^[7]. By 2023, in a dated interview, Castellano described dancing with other partners, naming Fernando Carrasco and Chicho Frúmboli, indicating that her partnership with Rodríguez had ended ^[9].

In 2025 Rodríguez performed with Fátima Vitale at TanGo To Istanbul ^[10]. In 2026 he headlined the Gavito Tango Festival in Los Angeles with Vitale ^[11]. A festival listing for the 18th edition of tanGOTOistanbul, held 10-17 March 2026, also lists the two together, and both that festival and the Gavito Tango Festival (Los Angeles, October) present them as a couple, confirming Vitale as his current partner ^[12]. Her given name appears as 'Fatima' in a video listing ^[1] and as 'Fátima' in other sources ^[10][12].

Partners and dance pairings

Beyond the partnerships documented with dates, a video listing associates Rodríguez with dances alongside the following dancers ^[1]: - Fátima Vitale, Luna Palacios, Noelia Barsi and Moira Castellano ^[1] - Andrea Missé, Stella Missé and Geraldine Rojas ^[1] - Virginia Pandolfi, Guillermina Quiroga, Milena Plebs and Francesca Del Buono ^[1] - Carla Rossi, Paola Tacchetti, Sol Alzamora and Noelia Hurtado ^[1] - Vanina Bilous, Alejandra Mantinan, Roxana Suárez and Isabel Acuna ^[1] - Mamié Sancy, Cynthia Fattori, Daniela Barria and Gisela Natoli ^[1] - Fernanda Ghi, Malena Rodriguez, Sandra Mok and Vilma Vega ^[1] - Clarissa Sánchez, Carolina Bonaventura, Gloria Arquimbau and Maria Plazaola ^[1] - Virginia Baldoscia, Pepa Palazón, Carlos Gavito, Javier Diaz and Juampy Ramírez ^[1]

The listing records these as pairings without dates, and it does not distinguish between sustained stage partnerships and individual appearances ^[1]. Some of the names on it, such as Pepa Palazón, appear elsewhere in the dossier in other roles; Palazón conducted his 'Tengo una pregunta para vos' interviews ^[1][5][10].

Festivals and teaching

Festival work has been a constant of Rodríguez's documented career, from the start of his international touring in 1998 ^[2] through his festival teaching and performing with Andrea Missé from 2005 ^[3]. He appears in a biography published by Milongueros All Aboard, associated with the Porto Tango Festival ^[2].

Documented festival appearances include the Misterio Tango Festival in 2015 with Noelia Barsi ^[6], tanGO TO istanbul in 2016 with Moira Castellano ^[7], TanGo To Istanbul in 2025 with Fátima Vitale ^[10], and both the 18th edition of tanGOTOistanbul (10-17 March 2026) and the Gavito Tango Festival in Los Angeles (October 2026) with Vitale ^[11][12].

Interviews

In 2012 Rodríguez was interviewed by Pepa Palazón for the series 'Tengo una pregunta para vos' at Luna Llena; the interview was filmed by Junando Milongas and later reprinted from 2XTango magazine ^[5].

On 21 April 2020 he was interviewed live on Instagram by Marina Combis for '¡Qué noche tan clara! Veladas tangueras' ^[8].

In 2025 he gave a second 'Tengo una pregunta para vos' interview, held at the Academia Nacional del Tango and published with English subtitles ^[10].

Video footage

Footage of Rodríguez dancing with Geraldine Rojas and with Andrea Missé began appearing online in 2006, including a video titled 'JAVIER & GERALDINE Tango' ^[4]. His 2016 performance with Moira Castellano at tanGO TO istanbul is described as the couple's most-watched video ^[7]. A video listing indexes performances with many other partners ^[1].
