Dancer

Dmitry Vasin

Dmitry Vasin is a tango dancer who competed in Tango Escenario. With Sagdiana Hamzina he won the Mundial de Tango in that category in 2018 [6]. His earlier results included the escenario final of the 2nd European Tango Championship in 2011 [2] and fifth place in the 2013 Mundial de Tango Escenario final with Esmer Omerova [3].

Dmitry Vasin is a dancer documented chiefly through competition results and performance recordings in Tango Escenario, the stage category of tango championships [2][3][6]. Over his career he partnered several dancers. A video catalogue lists Sagdiana Hamzina, Esmer Omerova, Stefany Ortiz, Taya Finenkova Dec and Carlos Espinosa as his partners [1].

The documented record runs from 2011 to 2026 [2][7]. In 2011 he reached the escenario final of the 2nd European Tango Championship [2]. In 2013 he placed fifth in the Mundial de Tango Escenario final with Esmer Omerova [3]. In 2018 he won the Mundial de Tango in the Tango Escenario category with Sagdiana Hamzina [6]. A 2026 announcement listed classes he was to teach in Los Angeles [7].

Source titles spell his name in more than one way. They include "Dmitri Vasin" [2] and "Dmitry Vasim" [5] as well as "Dmitry Vasin" [4][7].

Competition career

In 2011 Vasin was an escenario finalist at the 2nd European Tango Championship [2]. His partner there is named in that source as Taisiya Finenkova [2]. A partner list gives the name as Taya Finenkova Dec [1]. Sources differ on the form of this partner's name, and the dossier does not state whether the two forms refer to the same person [1][2].

In 2013 he danced with Esmer Omerova. The pair were Russian sub-venue champions and placed fifth in the Mundial de Tango Escenario final, held on 27 August 2013 [3]. They were also recorded as the best foreign couple in that final [3].

In 2016 Vasin competed in the Mundial qualifiers with Sagdiana Hamzina [5]. In 2018 the two won the Mundial de Tango in the Tango Escenario category [6].

Performances

In 2015 Vasin performed with Esmer Omerova at the Kremlin Cup [4]. A recording of this performance is titled as Argentine tango from the Kremlin Cup 2015 [4].

A video catalogue lists the following dancers as Vasin's partners [1]:
