Dancer

Sabrina Veliz

Sabrina Veliz is a tango dancer. The dossier records her stage work from the late 1990s, including the US premiere of Milonga Boulevard in 1998 and anniversary shows in Buenos Aires in 2017 and 2022 [1]. She has danced with partners including Ruben Veliz, Carlitos Espinoza, Fernando Sanchez and Alejandro Lencina .

Sabrina Veliz is a tango dancer whose recorded career covers stage productions, festival performances, teaching events and a book [1]. Most of the dated material comes from the "Sobre nosotros" page of a website shared with Ruben Veliz, and many of its entries are phrased in the plural, referring to a couple or to "their" anniversaries [1].

The recorded activities run from 1998, when she was part of the lead couple of Milonga Boulevard at its US premiere, to 2025, when she performed with Alejandro Lencina at a festival in Porto [1][5]. In between, she appeared at a royal jubilee in the Netherlands, created and directed stage works, and danced at La Viruta in Buenos Aires [1][2]. She also published the book 'Secretos del abrazo', and she created and directs the Entre Minas Fest [1][4].

A dance-video index lists four dance partners: Ruben Veliz, Carlitos Espinoza, Fernando Sanchez and Alejandro Lencina . The dossier does not give dates for these partnerships .

Career

In 1998 Veliz was part of the lead couple of Milonga Boulevard, a production of the Nueva Compañía Tangueros, at its US premiere [1].

In 2005 she and her partner were described as the only foreign artists invited to Queen Beatrix's 25th jubilee in the Netherlands [1].

In 2008 the couple created 'Last Round' for the Amsterdam Sinfonietta [1]. In the same year they directed 'Radio Latina', which toured China [1].

On 23 August 2011 Veliz danced at the Fiesta X at La Viruta [2]. The listing for this evening names the orchestra of Mariano Bujacich, and it names "Los Veliz" and Claudio y Melina as the dancers [2].

In 2014 the couple published the book 'Secretos del abrazo' [1]. That December they were guest artists at Mar del Plata Vive Tango [1].

Anniversary productions

In 2017 the couple presented 'Descarnados' at Paseo La Plaza to mark their 20 years with tango [1].

In 2020 they premiered 'Desconcierto Tango' in Buenos Aires [1].

In 2022 they marked their 25th anniversary with 'Tango Infinito' on Calle Corrientes [1].

Festivals and teaching

Veliz created and directs the Entre Minas Fest [4]. A video dated 24 February 2020 presents her as one of the teachers at the 2020 edition, together with Milena Plebs and Noelia Hurtado [4].

In 2023 she performed at the festival in Porto; the performance was recorded on 22 April [3]. The video of this performance is titled "Sabrina and Ruben Veliz - Milonga Para As Missões at FI Tango Porto 2023" [3].

In 2025 she performed with Alejandro Lencina at the Porto festival [5]. The video of that performance says the pair danced to music of Osvaldo Pugliese [5].
