Mariano Chicho Frúmboli

Mariano "Chicho" Frúmboli is a tango dancer, born on 21 September 1970, who began dancing tango in 1993 and moved to Europe in 1998 to teach [6][3]. His long-running partnerships included Lucía Mazer, Eugenia Parrilla and Juana Sepúlveda, and he appeared in the films La lección de tango and Tango libre [3][2][4].

Mariano "Chicho" Frúmboli is a tango dancer born on 21 September 1970 [6]. Before turning to tango he studied drums, beginning at the age of 13 at David Lebón's music school, an event dated to 1984 [2]. He started dancing tango in 1993 [3].

In October 1998 Frúmboli moved to Europe with Victoria Vieyra, settling first in France and then in Belgium, where he taught [3]. His career was marked by a series of partnerships: a four-year partnership with Lucía Mazer beginning in 1999, a partnership with Eugenia Parrilla from 2003 until 2006, and a partnership with Juana Sepúlveda beginning in 2007 [3]. A video listing also records him alongside a large number of other dancers [1].

Frúmboli also worked in film. He appeared as an extra in La lección de tango in 1997 [2] and played "the Argentinian" in Frédéric Fonteyne's 2012 film Tango libre [4]. In May 2026 he was still performing with Juana Sepúlveda, including at the Lyon Tango Festival on 24 May 2026, and was dancing exhibitions with Moira Castellano in Buenos Aires [5].

Early life

Frúmboli's dated partnerships followed one another from 1999 onward [3]. In 1999 he began a partnership with Lucía Mazer that lasted four years [3]. In 2003 he started dancing with Eugenia Parrilla, a partnership that continued until 2006 [3]. In 2007 he began his partnership with Juana Sepúlveda [3]. He was still touring with Sepúlveda in 2026, including a performance at the Lyon Tango Festival on 24 May 2026, where the pair danced to "Zum", credited to Pugliese in the title of a video of the performance [5]. Around the same time he was also dancing exhibitions with Moira Castellano in Buenos Aires [5].
