That year

Alfredo Malerba: Dies in Mexico City.

Fabian Salas: Antonio Todaro dies (28 January per Wikipedia/Wikidata, 28 February per Gustavo Benzecry Sabá). In his own 2013 account, Salas says Todaro's death was the moment he told Naveira 'no nos quedan referentes' (we have no references left) and they decided to research tango's mechanics themselves; no written source states this causal link directly, though Todaro's death, the group's Naveira/Salas/Chicho composition, and its mid-1990s timing are all independently confirmed in writing.

Antonio Todaro: Dies in Buenos Aires, aged 64.

José Bohr: Dies in Oslo.
