A maté and a kiss, that's how she wakes me, she gives me her good morning with a heavenly voice. Then she goes with me, tenderly, to the door her eyes smile while she says goodbye. Her lips never know reproaches I am, for her, always in childhood she forgives me everything, even that night when over certain things, I got drunk. Dear old woman of my life, your loving is a sweet nest, there's no sorrow or forgetting there everything is tenderness and love. If God left me, by good fortune, your loving is like a sun may death never want to put your heart out. This tango, my old mother, this tango is for you. A maté and a kiss I get on coming back, she makes the supper with a song. My clean clothes on my cot, my jacket brushed and showing a flower. For being noble and good, for being holy and divine, I carry her tucked inside my heart. My old mother, lads, and all the old mothers, they're all the same... a piece of God!
