Through the cobblestone streets Of a time long gone, Some black candomberos With their music cheered. It was a moonlit night A lantern was sad, In a mazorquero gate Some love was beginning. Some blacks... with drums... To the fish market... they were shaking... And the tiles moved To the beat of the milongón. Time of old houses Adorned with malvón, And of the fine pastilla And the serenity of the lantern. Time of Manuelita With minuets and dreams of love, The candombe in the streets And long live the Restorer!
